Port of Kalundborg Provides Test Site

In cooperation with the port authorities, EdgeFlow has found the ideal test site for the 2nd generation prototype.

To get a proper basis for evaluating the dynamics and efficiency of the next prototype, EdgeFlow has been searching for a test location with a substantial wind resource and as few disturbances as possible. Through associates, a contact was given to Bent Rasmussen, Harbor Director and an initial dialogue was established. As Bent Rasmussen describes the course:

”The Port of Kalundborg got the request of placing the new EdgeFlow wind turbine prototype with the objective of getting the optimum conditions for a number of tests. A location with an abundant wind and open expanses was searched for. The western end of the Kalundborg southern harbor has these possibilities and after a briefing on the wind turbine’s principle etc. by EdgeFlow’s owners the harbor was convinced that the reguest should be accommodated.”

Aside from providing a test site, the Port of Kalundborg has provided a solid, steel foundation for the turbine. In other words, the port has shown great commitment in promoting a new clean technology like EdgeFlow. Bent Rasmussen further explains their hopes for a final outcome:

“It would be great it if the tests of the turbine here in the Port of Kalundborg show that the efficiency and dynamics of the turbine meet the expectations of the inventors and if as a result an actual production of the turbine can commence.”
